description Objective: This study aims at detecting KIBRA promoter methylation and association with clinic-pathological manifestations in renal cancer. Materials and Methods: In this study, we have studied the KIBRA promoter methylation in twenty cases of renal cell cancer and compared them to their stage, grade, and histopathology. Result: We have found that significant amount of KIBRA promoter methylation is present in high grade tumors irrespective of the stage. 5 out of 6 grade III tumors and all 6 grade IV tumors were positive for significant KIBRA promoter methylation as compared to 1 out of 5 grade I tumor. Conclusion: DNA methylation alterations participate in renal carcinogenesis which significantly correlated with the clinicopathological diversity of clear cell renal cell carcinomas and can be considered as potential targets for therapy.
