| description | Abstract Sustainability and workplace safety are deeply interconnected, emphasizing the importance of protecting employee well-being, safeguarding the environment, and ensuring organizational success. SMEs in the metalwork welding industry face unique challenges, including limited occupational safety resources and disproportionately high rates of accidents and diseases. These challenges are further amplified for workers with disabilities, a group often overlooked in OSH initiatives. This study proposes a digital risk assessment methodology tailored to the needs of hearing-impaired welders in SMEs. The methodology integrates qualitative and quantitative approaches, identifying non-conformities within work systems and calculating risk levels based on severity and probability. Implemented using Microsoft Excel, the tool provides an accessible, cost-effective platform for risk assessment, guiding managers and safety personnel through data-driven decision-making processes. Simulated testing demonstrated the tool's ability to identify workplace risks, calculate risk levels, and suggest preventive measures tailored to specific scenarios. Feedback from workplace managers and safety officers highlighted the tool's user-friendly design, with 85% of participants finding it intuitive and 90% appreciating its actionable recommendations. Additionally, the tool aligns with sustainability principles by promoting inclusivity, minimizing manual processes, and supporting resource efficiency. This study addresses critical gaps in OSH practices by providing a scalable, inclusive risk assessment tool for SMEs, contributing to workplace safety and sustainability goals. Future research will focus on real-world validation, broader customization options, and adaptability for diverse industries and worker groups. |
