| description | Building energy simulation using building information modeling (BIM) is proving to be an efficient technique in recent years for overcoming the challenging energy modeling process, reducing time, and advancing building energy modeling (BEM) and simulation into the digital design process. It facilitates the simulation of the energy performance of both new and existing buildings on a single platform. However, there is still a sizable discrepancy between the actual energy usage and the outcomes anticipated on longer time scales (monthly or annual basis) for a variety of reasons. We simulated the energy performance of a multi-storey hotel to investigate the applicability and efficacy of this approach. Using the same building data, ASHRAE's CLTD/SCL/CLF method and Autodesk's Revit 2021 were used to anticipate the cooling load of the building. The building's actual yearly energy usage was also modelled using Revit 2021 and compared to the observed data. |
