description Introduction. Considering to the data of the increasing numbers of surgeries conducted on maxillofacial area with the use of oral external accesses and therefore frequency of postoperative pathological scar formation, were their new classification was developed and offered. This classification is based on the use of advanced mode of ultrasound skin examination and determining the level of invasion of scar tissue according to their anatomical structures. The aim of the study – to evaluate the results of practical application of the proposed new classification and the combined method of preventing the formation of pathological scarring of facіal skin with ultrasound scan. Research methods. The article presents the analysis of ultrasound examination of 42 patients with postoperative scars. A combination of extracorporeal shock wave therapy and silicone gel Strataderm were used to prevent the formation of hypertrophic scars and keloids. The efficiency evaluation in practical use of the proposed by the authors method of prevention pathological skin scarring formation and their new classification according to ultrasound scanning were made. The results. The results prove the practical advisability of the proposed classification and efficiency of own methods of early prevention of postoperative pathological scars formation of skin, which consist of complex application of extracorporeal shock wave therapy combined with Gel Strataderm Conclusions. The obtained data show the positive effect of the proposed methods of prevention the formation of pathological postoperative face scarring, which manifests itself in distinct decrease of the scar tissue thickness. The method of ultrasound scanning of postoperative scars is non-invasive, informative and can be used for objective control of scar forming processes. The proposed classification helps to improve the informativity of postoperative skin scars diagnostics and determines their location in the lower tissues.
