description The number of known archaeological sites is constantly growing, and public authorities are increasingly adopting an open approach, making their data accessible to the public. Sweden has adopted a modern approach to archaeological prospection, excavation, and report publication, making this information easily accessible online. However, much of the data was originally created and stored for management or basic classification purposes, which makes it challenging to repurpose for research and risks being overlooked outside a niche group of local experts. Additionally, the vast amount of information makes it difficult to use for larger areas, as it requires scraping through overwhelming quantities of data. This contribution provides readers with an R-based tool that downloads and processes Swedish archaeological data, focusing on relatively well-dated site classes, which can then be used for further analysis.
