description The current land utilization makes against soil and water conservation in red soil region in Southland of Anhui Province. The Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) is used to estimate the soil losses in two small watersheds of this region. The results showed that the soil conservation capacities of the mountainous evergreen forest are the largest. There is more obvious spatial distribution rule of water and soil loss in two small watersheds, and almost all the regions where water and soil losses seriously are located in the middle mountains or the hills of relatively high altitude.
