Description
Summary:Marin Le Roy de Gomberville, a member of the Académie française and the author of the successful novel Polexandre, uses the margins of his books, the prefaces and the dedications to the leaders of France, in order to pursue a career in belles-lettres. Besides the ulterior motive, the expression of the desire to write history arises again and again, haunting and yet peripheral. There would lie the weakness of Gomberville; it is sometimes hard to be a man of science and a man of power.
