Summary:Employee empowerment increases the ability of individuals to enhance their autonomy, motivation, and participation, which leads to improved performance and organizational commitment. Therefore, the study aims to investigate the impact of business intelligence on employee empowerment with the mediating role of information and communication technology. Smart-PLS is used for both descriptive and inferential analysis for empirical hypothesis testing. The study employed convenience sampling techniques. Data were collected from 250 lecturers at Jordanian universities through structured questionnaires. Regression findings indicate that business intelligence significantly affects employee empowerment. Furthermore, business intelligence also positively and significantly influences to information and communication technology. On the other hand, information and communication technology positively and significantly impact to employee empowerment. In addition, these indirect impact of information and communication technology mediates the relationship between business intelligence and employee empowerment. This finding indicates that an investment strategy involving both business intelligence and information and communication technology significantly contributes to employee empowerment. Furthermore, the study provides significant insights into Jordanian universities to adopt digital technologies that strengthen the association between business intelligence, information and communication technologies, and employee empowerment to optimize their performance.
