description Isabella I of Castile took great care over the image she projected in order to assert her rank and the legitimacy of her power. She used a variety of resources for this purpose. In the following paragraphs, the aim is to analyse whether this desire affected the chronicles written during her lifetime, i.e. whether the queen could have directly or indirectly influenced the content and form that these chronicles adopted. For this purpose I have chosen two moments of special relevance in Elizabeth's political career: the agreement she signed with her half-brother Henry IV in 1468, followed by her marriage to Ferdinand of Aragon, and the second recognition of Juana as heir in 1470; and the dispute which, after her proclamation in 1474, confronted her against Ferdinand of Aragon and some of her followers over the effective exercise of power, that she claimed for herself as queen in her own right, and which culminated in the Concord of Segovia.
