Through various stages of its development extradition has evolved from being a purely political instrument. It is clear that extradition today carries a political dimension, reflecting the position of the executive branch of government toward a particular state. Recent cases involving requests for extradition from Montenegro have sparked public debate on various aspects, including whether political influence is justified in the decision-making process regarding the extradition of individuals to another state.
