Description
Summary:Abstract : In order to apprehend the way working class youths practice their social class of origin as well as their gender, this article builds on the analysis of their practices deployed at work and at school.  To enter vocational training and obtain employment, they have to cope with socially, sexually and ethnically segregated spaces ruled by particularly binding injunctions: liberate themselves from their social class of origin and comply with their gender identity. To that end, far from being locked in a straightforward posture of domination and resignation, they develop their ability to take effective actions, borrow ways of being and doing, detour around and juggle with different cultural repertoires. Such original and strongly gender-sensitive practices demonstrate there are many ways to practice its social class or origin but also its gender.
