description The article is devoted to the study of structural-semantic peculiarities of the eponymous terms of the English professional language of medicine. In this study the structural types of terms are distinguished and analysed, their modifications and efficiency are identified and sources of proprial components of clinical terms are described. The study of the eponymous terms of the English professional language of medicine had a phased nature and consisted of four stages. The first stage of the research involved analysis of the basic approaches to professional language and the notion of term and enunciation of the working definitions of the linguistic concepts used in the study. The purpose of the second stage of the research was to generate the study material. With the help of continuous sampling, a total of 1600 English clinical eponymous terms were selected from the corpus of the English language professional medical literature using corpus linguistics methods and automatic text processing. The sources of the material were dictionaries, encyclopaedias, scientific and journal publications, reference books, dissertations and textbooks. The essence of the third stage of the study was to analyse the structural-semantic features of the English clinical eponymous terms. The proprial components of the terminological units are characterised in terms of the nationality of the researchers; structural models of the terminological units with proprial components and their modifications are identified and the most productive structural models of the English clinical eponymous terms are described. The fourth stage of the study is devoted to establishing the semantic features of the proprial components in eponymous terms. Our own semantic classification of proper names is proposed, the quantitative characteristics of each thematic group are established and the most productive core components of the eponymous terms are identified.
