description [Objective] TOD (Transit Oriented Development) mode is considered as a planning concept to alleviate the disorderly urban sprawl and promote sustainable urban development and rational growth. A good land use structure in the rail transit station area is conducive to achieving intensive land use. In order to help the efficient interaction between rail transit and urban land use, it is necessary to study the optimization of land use structure in the rail transit station area under the TOD mode. [Method] Starting from the TOD planning principles and taking the common land use issues in rail transit station areas as the starting point, three optimization orientations: land intensity control, functional mixing, and appropriate land use ratio are proposed. Objective functions and constraint conditions are set accordingly, and a TOD-based multi-objective optimization model of station area land use structure is constructed. The operability of the model is improved by simplifying data processing and model architecture. Based on NSGA Ⅱ (Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm Ⅱ), the land use structure optimization of Chenghua South Road Station area in Quanzhou section of the Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou Intercity Railway R1 Line is taken as a case study to verify the effect of land use structure optimization. [Result & Conclusion] After optimization, the proportions of residential, commercial, and public facility land uses within the study area have been effectively increased, achieving a more balanced land use function combination, in line with the station area′s demand for balance between residential and employment spaces and public service functions under TOD concept. The rationality of optimized land use structure in rail transit station area has been improved, and the the proportion of each land type has been adjusted steadily, verifying the good applicability of the model and its effectiveness for land use structure optimization in rail transit station area.
