Acute inferior ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction as an initial presentation of acute pancreatitis leading to multiorgan dysfunction

Acute myocardial infarction associated with acute pancreatitis is an uncommon occurrence where both share inflammation as a commonality. Though, the precise mechanism behind this association remains unclear, systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) may play a role. We present a case of acute...

Description
Summary:Acute myocardial infarction associated with acute pancreatitis is an uncommon occurrence where both share inflammation as a commonality. Though, the precise mechanism behind this association remains unclear, systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) may play a role. We present a case of acute inferior myocardial-infarction with complete heart block managed with thrombolysis, later diagnosed to have acute severe pancreatitis and multiorgan dysfunction which posed a major diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. It is vital to ensure the treatment of one condition does not worsen the other.
