Summary:Designing the knowledge database of an expert system is a difficult task that requires a close cooperation between a human expert and the knowledge engineer. The result of this cooperation will be the one to determine the accuracy of any solutions obtained by the expert system in question. In this paper, we have designed the rules and the facts database of an expert system used to design bearings for the construction of mechanisms and we have also described the way the said expert system works, based on the computation algorithm.
