Description
Summary:This paper is the continuation of a research project started in 1999 to identify "genre" and "styles" of playing by national rugby teams (Clot & Faïta, 2000). Using a technological approach, the research addresses clinical activity concepts from an educational viewpoint that may be useful for teachers and coaches. With the assistance of a data collection method (the match scenario), we compare various phases of the game during the 1999 World Cup with those observed in 2007. This comparison enables us to determine a "category" for each game. Furthermore, examination of how the teams’ playing changed between 1999 and 2007 helps us to identify particular "styles". We then discuss our findings with a view to planning both initial and continuing training courses for sports teachers and rugby coaches.
