description Continuous decline in the resources of safe water is the widespread challanges across the world. Climatic changes, deforestation, contamination due to lack of sanitation infrastructure , pollution affecting the water quality and specially underwater living beings as they eventually take these toxins in and are thus prone to death. Therefore it becomes essential to monitor the water quality continuously to control of pollutants and pathogens that can cause damage to the life in water, environment and human health. Furhter the challege is the use of high-cost equipment and qualified professionals for monitoring the water quality In recent years advancements in electronics, nanotechnology and IOT have led the monitoring of water quality at remote end with reduced costs and analysis of these results in remote labs have accelerated the management and decision-making for improving the quality of water. This paper provides an in-depth review, analysis and challenges of various water quality monitoring techniques. A detailed review was carried out on several low-cost developed technologies for water quality monitoring by employing a point-by-point approach. The paper systematically appraises the effectiveness, feasibility, and ecological implications of these methods. Further, a cost effective solution is proposed to capture data from various sensors and send this data on internet for analysis and processing, which can help in keeping safe and healthy aquaculture.
