Description
Summary:HELLP syndrome is a severe pregnancy complication characterized by hemolysis, elevated liver enzymes, and thrombocytopenia. It affects between 0.2% and 0.9% of pregnancies, usually between 27 and 37 weeks. Although it is associated with pre-eclampsia, it can manifest without its typical signs, complicating the diagnosis. Angiogenic markers, such as the sFlt-1/placental growth factor ratio, have shown utility in the early identification and differentiation of HELLP syndrome. Timely management is crucial to reduce maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, requiring close surveillance and expert obstetric care.
