| Summary: | Abstract The rapid acceptance of cloud services and data centre (DC) traffic development have increased the necessity of a scalable and cost-effective network infrastructure. The multi-core fibre-based space division multiplexing-based elastic optical network (SDM-EON) is considered one of the promising optical technologies to support the capacity crisis, and the deployment of DCs with SDM-EONs helps in establishing an efficient data retrieval process by overcoming various issues of SDM-EONs. This paper introduces a new fragmentation-aware and survivable routing, spectrum and core allocation (RSCA) algorithm for provisioning dynamic unicast traffic in DC-based SDM-EONs. Extensive simulation results on two networks- COST239 and NSFNET- prove the proposed algorithm’s potency against different network benchmarks. |
