| Summary: | The association between retail and leisure activities is now well anchored in megamalls in North America. Recreational space can be an additional element of patronage attraction to enhance the retail revenues. Sometimes, it constitutes a destination in itself. Far from these well-known retail spaces, the present study is interested in the development of leisure activities structures in an average proximity territory that is the vast commercial area situated in southern periphery of the urban area of Metz, in Lorraine. What are the logic(s) of development of leisure activities in Actisud? Who are the stakeholders? How does this development modify the organization, the functioning (including its temporality) and the image of the zone? Is there a synergy between leisure and retail activities? What are the similarities but also the possible differences between this study site and other French commercial areas and megamalls? |
