Description
Summary:The article is devoted to the creation of unique author's souvenir products that popularize the historical and cultural heritage of Ekaterinburg. The relevance of this article is confirmed by documents and laws of the Government of the Russian Federation and the Strategic Plan for the Development of the City of Ekaterinburg until 2030 responsible for the implementation of the tasks of civic education of the younger generation. The purpose of the article was to describe the stages of creating a design project for a series of souvenir products, which not only has an authentic format, but, having an interactive character, will make it possible to introduce the consumer to the sights of the metropolis in a useful way. The market for souvenir products in the city and similar projects related to the history of cities and countries are analyzed in the article, the article highlights their advantages and disadvantages, and determines the composition of the target audience. For this purpose, an open survey of the population of Ekaterinburg was conducted on the Internet in order to identify the popularity of souvenirs and their range. The presented survey results showed that the greatest demand will be for printed products in the form of a diary, wall, desk and quarterly calendars, commemorative cards, coloring books and stickers. The next place in popularity was taken by textile souvenir products, of which respondents identified: a T-shirt, a shopper, a hoodie and a cap. Household souvenirs were also of great importance to the respondents and were included in the following list: magnets, a glass coaster, wooden and metal badges, mugs and thermal mugs. All noted types of souvenir products formed the basis for the design development of the project and served as its justification. The design is based on the author's graphics of historical and cultural sites located mainly along the “Red Line” of the city's pedestrian route, as well as attractions chosen by respondents as a result of an Internet survey. The author's illustrations are made in linear graphics in a sketch style. The result was the introduction of developed products as a gift to employees and partners of the Ekaterinburg Academy of Contemporary Art, the sale of souvenirs at a fair and sale as part of the multicultural project “Night of Museums 2023”, the introduction of stickers in the Telegram messenger, and the distribution of some souvenirs to shops and souvenir shops in the city. The methodological basis of the project was theoretical research methods, such as: analysis used to identify and clarify the target audience of the project, and select similar examples, as well as the souvenir market to highlight competitive advantages; synthesis - to identify optimal design solutions and formulate conclusions; comparison - to work with information sources when determining the functionality of the souvenir and its application. The empirical research method was used to conduct a survey of the city population on the Internet and social networks, and was carried out by the authors in order to identify types of souvenir products that were of interest to citizens and clarify the nature of the images of historical and cultural monuments. To create, develop a compositional solution and implement product design, the following practical methods were used: “one-piece method”, iteration method. The method of scenario modeling was used to build the structure and designate intermediate goals of the design project for souvenir products.
