| Summary: | The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between preschool teacher candidates' attitudes towards science teaching and their self-efficacy beliefs towards science. In the study, the relational survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used and the study was conducted with 253 pre-school teacher candidates. In the study, the "Self-Efficacy Scale for Preschool Science Education" developed by Buldur and Alisinanoğlu (2020) and the "Attitude Scale for Science Teaching" developed by Cho, Kim and Choi (2003) were used as data collection tools. Within the scope of the analysis of the data obtained, t-test for independent samples was used to examine whether the participants' self-efficacy levels for science education differed according to their gender, and Single Factor Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) Test was used according to grade level. MANOVA Test was used to examine whether the participants' attitudes towards science teaching differed significantly in terms of gender and grade level according to the sub-factors of the scale. Pearson Correlation Coefficients were calculated to determine the relationship between participants' attitudes towards science teaching and their self-efficacy regarding science education. According to the results of the research, it was revealed that the self-efficacy and attitudes of pre-school teacher candidates towards science education were slightly above the medium level. In addition, it was determined that there were positive, moderate and significant relationships between the participants' attitude sub-factors towards science teaching and their self-efficacy towards science education. |
