Description
Summary:Given the positive implications generated by a high level of employment on economic development, the concern to analyze this process from the perspective of identifying the determinants of employment has persisted over time. Predominantly seen as a mediator, but sometimes also a moderator of the relationship between employment and economic growth, the entrepreneurial ecosystem is analyzed from the perspective of its characteristics, actions, strategies and consequences at both micro and macroeconomic levels. Limiting the issue under analysis to youth entrepreneurship as an alternative to workforce employment, the paper investigates the current state of research and reveals the trends in this field, by mapping the WOS database from 2002 to 2024 and using the scientific software VOSviewer, aiming to highlight the most influential authors, journals, countries, connected terms and the main theoretical and practical outcomes. The bibliometric analysis helps not only researchers by producing scientific knowledge and influencing their future investigations but also policymakers whose interest lies in choosing the most effective economic development strategies, many of which are elaborated as a result of studies and analyses conducted by the academic environment.
