Summary: | While Catalan regional elections of September 27 of 2015 provoked an exceptional turnout from both opponents and supporters of independence, it remains quite unusual to debate publicly and contradictorily of its content. The systematic rejection by the Spanish central government and Parliament does not fully explain it. Yet, three Catalan universities of Sabadell, Barcelona and Gerona organized such debates since the autumn of 2012. This article aims at drawing the first lessons from these innovative experiments, which proved the possibility to hear opposite arguments, despite the growing polarisation created around the independence of Catalonia. |
