Description
Summary:The present paper has as main objective to design a development index to capture the agricultural potential of a rural community. The main working hypothesis is that there are rural communities where the development/diversification of farming activities can be supported both by the existence of certain endogenous natural and human resources and by the productive behaviour of household heads. The paper presents an aggregation model of certain agricultural indicators impacting both the farming sector and the development of rural communities. The focus is laid only on the agricultural indicators that describe the potential (resources) of a given area or only on the result indicators (average yields per hectare, LLU, etc.); it also develops an assessment model of the agricultural activities that takes into consideration the indicators from these two categories.
