Description
Summary:This article examines, through a comparison of Voz Operária, Opción, and Unidad y Lucha, the relationship that the Brazilian Communist Party, the Workers’ Socialist Party of Argentina, and the Socialist Party of Chile established with national universities within their opposition strategies to respective civil-military dictatorships (1964–1990). The universities, restructured by authoritarian regimes, were conceived as strategic spaces of contestation and key actors in democratic transition processes.
