description Autonomous-rail rapid tram is the core component of the autonomous-rail rapid transit (ART) . The overall design scheme and performance of the tram largely determine many application indicators of the ART in urban transportation such as transportation capacity, adaptability, riding comfort, comprehensive cost, etc. In this paper, satisfaction of the autonomous-rail rapid tram positioning for middle and small volume transportation system was adopted as the performance index, and the overall technical parameters and structural design scheme of the autonomous-rail rapid tram were determined by comparison with the parameters of modern trams. In addition, it gives a description on optimization and innovation of the tram body structure and lightweight design for rail-like running, which provides a beneficial reference for the design of multi-module tram with rubber wheels.
