| Summary: | Objetivo: Describir un caso de un miofibroma de la variedad solitaria de la cavidad oral, analizar sus características clínicas, histopatológicas e inmunohistoquímicas y realizar una revisión bibliográfica comparativa para destacar la singularidad de este caso y contribuir al conocimiento de esta patología poco frecuente en la cavidad oral. Enfatizar la importancia de un correcto diagnóstico diferencial con otras lesiones de tejidos blandos y el papel de la inmunohistoquímica en la confirmación diagnóstica.
Caso clínico: Trata de un paciente con diagnóstico de miofibroma de la cavidad oral. El miofibroma de tejidos blandos es poco frecuente en la boca, aunque es común en piel. La bibliografía constata que se reportan muy pocos casos de miofibroma en la cavidad oral y, además, estos presentan algunas características clínicas diferentes al caso presentado.
Conclusión: Este caso clínico subraya la importancia de considerar un amplio espectro de diagnósticos diferenciales ante lesiones con características clínicas similares de los tejidos blandos de la cavidad oral. Aunque se trate de una neoplasia benigna, su diagnóstico de certeza es fundamental para evitar tratamientos innecesarios y asegurar un seguimiento adecuado del paciente. Asimismo, la inmunohistoquímica desempeña un papel crucial en la confirmación diagnóstica y la diferenciación de los miofibromas de otras lesiones similares.
Abstract
Aim: To describe a case of a solitary-type myofibroma in the oral cavity, analyze its clinical, histopathological, and immunohistochemical features, and conduct a comparative literature review to highlight the uniqueness of this case and contribute to the understanding of this rare pathology in the oral cavity. Stressing the importance of a correct differential diagnosis with other soft tissue injuries and the role of immunohistochemistry in diagnostic confirmation will be emphasized.
Clinical case: This is a patient with myofibroma of the oral cavity. Soft tissue mouth myofibroma is rare, although it is common in the skin. In the bibliographic review carried out, it is confirmed that very few cases of myofibroma in oral cavity are reported and they also present some clinical characteristics different from the case that motivates this publication.
Conclusion: This clinical case highlights the importance of considering a broad spectrum of differential diagnoses for lesions with similar clinical features in the soft tissues of the oral cavity. Although it is a benign neoplasm, an accurate diagnosis is essential to avoid unnecessary treatments and to ensure appropriate patient follow-up. Likewise, immunohistochemistry plays a crucial role in confirming the diagnosis and differentiating myofibromas from other similar lesions.
