description Reflecting on the portrayal of a rapist and femicide François Villon in certain contemporary fictions (Je, François Villon by Jean Teulé and Jeanne de L'Estoille. La Rose et le lys by Gerald Messadié), this article examines the question of Villon's masculinity and male gaze as they manifest in his work. By applying tools from gender criticism to the literary field, this work aims to highlight and question the links that operate between 15th century literature and certain modern gendered visions, as well as the way in which these (re)construct, a posteriori, a medieval masculinity.
