| Summary: | Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) is an agreement between a public organizations and Organized Private Sectors (OPS). Four ecotourism sites in Nigeria were used for this study. Stratified sample technique was used to select 368 respondents. Data collected were analyzed using 5-point Likert-type scale; the contingent valuation method was applied to find the tourists’ total willingness to pay the new gate fees and for other recreational facilities and services in the ecotourism sites resulting from the proposed PPPs management model. Maximum likelihood estimation of the Logit regression coefficient was applied to find the factors influencing the tourists’ willingness to pay. Results showed that respondents strongly disagreed with the present management system of the ecotourism sites with a mean score of 1.38. Result of the tourists’ willingness to pay increased considerably, ranging from 40.59% to 133.83% above the current prices. Result of the logit regression model revealed that bid amount, age2, and estimated annual income, among others, were the variables that influence the tourists’ willingness to pay. Anew sustainable and efficient PPPs management model was proposed for the ecotourism sites that can be adopted in Nigeria and Sub-Sahara Africa. |
