| Summary: | Archival appraisal practices are one of the basic principles of records management and archival and have required some changes in the basic structure of modern destruction practices with the developments and changes in technology. This study discusses the historical course and effects of the traditional appraisal approach developed under the influence of Jenkinson and Schellenberg, the current need for a new paradigm in the appraisal of electronic records, and the relationship and applicability of the innovations this paradigm has brought alongside traditional appraisal methods. The study uses the descriptive method to benefit from the comparison and document analysis techniques. Forefront among the results is that the destruction methods and techniques should be interpreted and applied for corporate records produced in the electronic environment. The dissemination and use of archival appraisal tools are also understood to have special importance for electronic appraisal and destruction. |
