| Summary: | Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) was constructed using phenolcontaining anaerobic wastewater as a substrate. An anaerobic electrogenic strain A4 capable of degrading phenol was obtained by separating and screening the stable period microbial fuel cell anode. Physiological and biochemical identification of strain A4 showed that the strain was Enterobacter. Used strain A4 as the research object, the effects of different nitrogen sources, carbon sources, pH value, temperature, initial phenol concentration and heavy metal ion on the growth of strain A4 and phenol degradation were investigated. Studies have shown that NH4NO3 was the best nitrogen source, sucrose was the best cometabolic substrate, the optimum pH value was 8, the optimal initial phenol concentration was 500 mg/L, the optimum temperature was 23℃, and the optimum inoculum was 10%. Strain A4 could tolerate a certain concentration (0.2 mg/L) of Pb2+, while this strain was less tolerant to high concentrations (2000 mg/L) of phenol. Strain A4 produced electricity during the stationary phase of growth. The phenol degradation rate reached 67.37% at 64 h and the coulombic efficiency (CE) was 17.8%. The research selected highquality anaerobic electricityproducing bacteria and optimized their growth conditions, which is of great significance for the application of MFC in the treatment of phenolcontaining wastewater. |
