Description
Summary:While in-transit in Rome, in the period between the two World Wars, several Romanian writers were admiring (although not without some reservations) the vast urbanistic changes targeting the modernization of the town and, at the same time, the reconstruction of some prestigious old areas in order to highlight the ancient ruins. They depict the new urban landscape, and they enter into a debate about the relationship between the present and the past, and the validity of the attempt to revive the Antiquity by erasing the traces of the subsequent epochs.
