Description
Summary:To carry out research in the human and social sciences, it is often not so much a question of observing from the outside his research object, his “field”, as of taking advantage of an immersion in his research object, in order to better understand the logic and operation. We have proposed an analysis of this implication using a method called “the situating gaze” which makes it possible to expose and submit to criticism the position of a researcher who is also an actor in his research. The situation in which one finds oneself “in this” situating gaze is double: it is a state in which one finds oneself as a subject placed at the heart of a situation (temporal and spatial) and a mental space in which one positions oneself as an observer, from the outside, this situation. Thus, the gaze is situated both on the subject which is looking and on the object which is being looked at. The use of this method makes it possible both to qualify his observation and his analyzes and to legitimize the place of any researcher, in particular one who is ostensibly involved in his object of research.
