| Summary: | The aim of this contribution is to estimate the impact that Erasmian ideas about language and its sins had in Spain through the very early translation of his treatise Lingua (1525) by Bernardo Pérez de Chinchón (1533). We carry a study of the translation and the changes it induces that directed the reception of the Erasmian work (the most often translated in Spain after the Enchiridion) for the Spanish public. We would like to propose a reflection on this issue from an Erasmian perspective, allowing us to survey the period of formation of consciences that, after the Council, was asked to also discern the sins later called «language sins», some of which, as we know, were called «heretics». |
