The increasing cases of internal displacement arising from conflicts across Nigeria and the emerging patterns of ethnic enclaves in rural communities are engendering a new phase of rural[1]rural migration. This is against the backdrop of the emergence of pockets of communities of Tiv migrants from Benue, Nasarawa and Plateau States resident in Niger State. Relying on documentary evidence as well as qualitative data from key informant interviews (KIIs), the study examines socio-political and economic factors that drive the current trend of rural-rural migration and situates its implication for future inter-group relations. The study posits that their migration and settlement patterns are driven by a combination of factors, such as fear, violence and exigencies of livelihood resulting from violent conflict between Tiv and other ethnic groups in the north-central geo-political region of Nigeria. It submits that pro-active measures that draw from the provisions of the Constitution of Nigeria need to be put in place in order to bring about necessary mitigation.
