Summary:The literature review gives the data of recent investigations that have demonstrated that rheumatoid arthritis increases the incidence of venous thromboembolic events. It considers the pathogenesis of thrombosis in chronic inflammatory diseases and the relationship of an inflammatory process to thrombogenesis. Whether the drugs used in patients with rheumatoid arthritis have effects on the risk of thrombogenesis is discussed.
