Description
Summary:This article is a missiological-theological appraisal of the missionary work of Serving in Mission (SIM) in Nigeria, founded during the later 1890s. A historical study was undertaken to track the 125 years’ work of Serving in Mission with the aim to appraise key aspects of the work. This study establishes the significance of the mission work in Africa and the historical activities of Serving in Mission, with a broad discussion on how the mission work resulted in the birth of an indigenous church that continues to build on the legacies of the founders of Serving in Mission. These legacies, strongly driven by a theological and holistic view of mission practice, were appraised. Furthermore, some issues left unaddressed through the work of Serving in Mission were identified and suggestions made.
