| Summary: | The alkaline error at various pH values (0.15 and 1.0N Na+) and the water solubility of some electrode glasses have been determined. The behaviour of these electrode glasses after prolonged treatment with 1.0 N NaOH at 75 °C has been studied. It is found that the substitution of 1 mole-% silicon dioxide by germanium dioxide, which improves the workability of electrode glasses, does not significantly influence their alkaline error, water solubility and behaviour under extreme conditions.
