description During the 1990s, following the international community’s disengagement from intervening directly in the management of conflicts in Africa, African international organizations took their destiny into their own hands by setting up collective security systems. If this African appropriation of peace and security issues has been welcomed by the African peoples, it is therefore appropriate to study it to the test of the facts. The aim of this study is to make an analysis and an evaluation of African collective security systems and therefore to analyze the respective roles of the African Union and African subregional organizations in conflict management.
