Summary:Polish studies at the University of Veliko Turnovo celebrates a double anniversary in 2013/2014 – the Department of Slavic studies was established 20 years ago and courses in Polish, taught by native speakers, were introduced 40 years ago. The article provides an A­–to–Z account of the cultural contextualisation of Polish studies at UVT; assembles a gallery of portraits of lecturers focusing on their academic and research work; traces the itinerary of Slavic studies and its current prospects; focuses on student activities; studies the forms of cooperation with universities and institutions in the field of Polish studies, highlighting the most fruitful ones.
