Description
Summary:The widespread use of the internet has accelerated digital technology adoption in almost all aspects of life in Indonesia, including the country’s small-scale livestock industry. The shift from manual to digital databases is common in the current industrial 4.0 era. SIMAPI is a top-down web-based smart-tag innovation that brings physical livestock data to the digital realm. However, a primary issue affecting the implementation of this smart tag technology is the livestock farmers. Therefore, this article explores the adoption process of SIMAPI among 6,000 cattle in Boyolali Regency, the largest milk-producing area in Central Java Province, Indonesia. A total of 50 livestock farmers and seven other stakeholders participated in in-depth interviews for this research. The results revealed that several tiers in the SIMAPI adoption process were absent in the diffusion stage. Moreover, age, education, culture, opinion leaders, regulations, and infrastructure are essential factors for the success of SIMAPI adoption in Boyolali Regency. Keywords: ICT Adoption, information technology, diffusion of innovation, livestock farmers.
