Description
Summary:This article relates the process by which I discovered and, even more, identified and authenticated an unpublished Montesquieu manuscript, Notes sur Cicéron (held in the La Brède collection of the Bordeaux city library). This document casts new light on Montesquieu's philosophical education and reveals a highly critical attitude towards religion, inspired in large part by the reading of Bayle.
