description Ostwald ripening process of nanoclusters or nanocrystals is investigated when their growth (dissolution) is controlled by both the diffusion along dislocation pipes and the rate of formation of chemical bonds (chemical reaction) on the surface of nanocrystals (Wagner mechanism of growth). Accordingly, the total flux of atoms to the cluster (from cluster) consists of two parts – diffusion part and kinetic or Wagner part. Depending on the relation between the fluxes, expressions for the growth rate of nanocrystals are obtained and size distribution functions are calculated accordingly. Calculations are performed for two cases when the number of dislocations which are attached to the surface of nanocrystals remains constant or decreases in inverse proportion to the increase in the cluster size. The comparison of the calculated size distribution functions with experimental data is carried out.
