Description
Summary:Abstract The Metaverse, an emerging 3D Internet platform, has rapidly gained popularity, attracting professionals from diverse fields due to its captivating applications. However, this paradigm remains in its infancy and requires significant advancements to achieve optimal user-friendliness. This paper introduces the concept of "Virtual Touchability" (VirTouch), a novel approach aimed at enhancing the realism of Metaverse-based assets for real-world users. By leveraging the potential of wearable sensors (WSs), this study defines VirTouch and investigates its ability to seamlessly merge digital assets with real-world sensations, thereby revolutionizing human-computer interactions and virtual experiences. The paper elucidates fundamental technologies and their synergistic integration with user interfaces, introduces innovative applications, and conducts a comprehensive SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis of the VirTouch concept. Ultimately, this research offers valuable insights for academia, industry professionals, and entrepreneurs seeking to explore this promising domain, providing a strategic framework for future developments in metaverse technology.
