Summary:One of the notable uses of nanomaterials is nano coating, which focuses on altering surface characteristics by depositing a thin layer of nanoparticles. Combining thermal spray coating with nano materials is a promising arena and offer certain advantages such as the versatility of the fluids, little liquid waste, durability, resistance to wear, corrosion, easy control over the thickness and roughness of the film and can be used in varieties of products such as biomaterials, photocatalysts, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, batteries, semiconductors, and sensors without appreciably altering the material's weight, thickness, or look. This review analyzes various thermal spray coating techniques that utilizes nanomaterials. Moreover, it discusses on a no of nanomaterials that are being employed with thermal spray coating, impact of the combination on the properties of the final products and their applications. Different thermal spray techniques affect the final properties of nanomaterial-based coatings differently. Again, this review addresses the merits and challenges of incorporating nanomaterials with thermal spray coating. Lastly, it covers the merits, explored the contemporary researches going on and the future trend of nanomaterials based thermal spray coating.
