description An improved and rapid one pot synthesis of 2,4,6-triphenyl-1H-imidazoles on condensation with benzil, aromatic aldehyde and NH4OAc has been carried out using ZnO as an efficient and inexpensive catalyst in high yield at room temperature. The short reaction time, good yields (60-93%), environmental friendly procedure, mild reaction condition and convenient operation are important advantage of these synthetic methods.
