Summary:At present, there are some limitations in the material evaluation method of shaft for traction motor based on GB/T 3077- 1999 Specification for the Alloy Structure Steels. With a view to the structural characteristics, material properties and actual load condition, a rational evaluation method of the shaft for traction motor was proposed in terms of chemical composition, mechanical properties and flaw detection etc. Test results indicate that this method is more rational than the current one, which can provide more useful reference for the material’s selection of the shaft.
