Description
Summary:Between the 1970s and 2010, Bertrand Tavernier (“Tatav” to his close professional circle) created a body of work as substantial as it is multifaceted, marked by the diversity and curiosity of his exploration of the social world. Committed to “making a film against the previous one”, the filmmaker, who is also his own producer or co-producer via his company Little Bear, nonetheless works around recurring preoccupations, attentive to blending the intimate and the political, emotion and commitment, past and present, as well as maintaining a relationship with the “cinema family” he quickly managed to surround himself with. This article will explore the inner functioning, the dynamic and passionate nature, and the ethics and practice of collective work within “Tavernier’s band”, based on unpublished documents, notably from the archives of his company Little Bear, as well as some thirty interviews conducted between 2022 and 2024, from an oral history perspective, with people who worked alongside him.
