| description | Se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal en el Consultorio No. 7 de la Policlínica Juan G. Soto del Municipio de Banes durante el periodo febrero 2009 – 2010 con el objetivo de determinar el comportamiento de los factores de riesgo aterosclerótico en durante el climaterio. Se estudiaron 97 mujeres con edades entre los 45 y 59 años, con doce o más meses de amenorrea natural. Se utilizó el cuestionario según el Modelo de recolección del dato primario del Centro de Investigación y Referencia de Aterosclerosis de la Habana, los datos se extrajeron de la historia clínica individual. Se consideraron factores de riesgo aterosclerótico: hipertensión arterial, diabetes mellitus tipo II, obesidad y tabaquismo. El grupo de edad más numeroso fue el de 55 a 59 años. Las cifras de hipertensión arterial y obesidad superaron las cifras encontradas en la población general adulta. Se encontró baja prevalencia de diabetes mellitus tipo II.

ABSTRACT
A descriptive cross-sectional study at the Doctor´s Office number 7 of Banes municipality, from February 2009 – 2010 was carried out.The objective of this work was to determine the behavior of atherosclerosis risk factors of during the climacteric The universe comprised 97 women between 45 and 59 years of age with twelve or more months with natural amenorrhoea assisted at the Doctor´s Office. The questionnaire was used according to the Pattern of Gathering of the Primary Fact (MRDP) of the Center of Investigation and Reference of Atherosclerosis of Havana (CIRAH) as well as the patients´s clinical history. The following risk factors were considered: hypertension, type II diabetes mellitus, obesity and tobacco addiction atherosclerotic: The prevailing age group was between 55 and 59 years. The prevalence of hipertension and obesity was higher comparing with those found in general population. It was low prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus Type II. There was a lower prevalence of type II diabetes mellitus.
